Environmentally Friendly Waste Collection Processes
We ensure that everything that can be recycled, is recycled. However, for everything that can’t be recycled, we take to the Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre.
CERC recovers energy from waste and recycling that otherwise would go to landfill. CERC ensures that the steam produced from burning waste is used to turn turbines, consequently producing electricity. The resulting ash that is also produced from this process is sifted to separate recyclable metals, with any leftover ash being used in the production of new roads.

On top of the standard recycling processes, the waste burned at the CERC produces steam used to turn turbines for electricity that is sold to the National Grid. The ash produced by the burned waste is then sifted to separate recyclable metals, and any leftover ash is used as a base for the production of new roads.
This way we can guarantee that zero waste goes to landfill and you can rest easy knowing you’re doing your bit for the environment.
